Fast
Date and Time Entry
There
are some shortcuts you can use when entering dates and times into appointments,
sessions, orders, etc.
Dates
Use a space to separate date numbers instead of a slash (/) because
it is easier to type. For example, instead of typing "11/4/2002,"
enter "11 4 2002." SuccessWare will fill in the slashes for
you.
If you enter a single number into a date field, SuccessWare assumes
it is a day in the current month and automatically fills in the current
month and year for you. If you enter two numbers, SuccessWare assumes
they are the month and day and automatically fills in the current year.
For example, if it's July 2002 and you want to enter a date of July
28, 2002, all you need to enter is "28" (without the quotes
of course!). The field will be auto-formatted to 7/28/2002. To enter
August 3, 2002, all you need to enter is "8 3." The field
will be auto-formatted to 8/3/2002. If the date is in another year,
you need to type the entire date. However, you only need to enter the
last two digits of the year. For example, you would enter "7 8
04" for July 8, 2004. Only years that are more than 90 years in
the past or 10 years in the future need all 4 year digits (like 7/8/1904
or 7/8/2021).
Also, when the cursor is in a date field, pressing the + or - keys will
increment or decrement the currently entered date by 1 day. For example,
if the field's current value is "6/30/2002" and you press
the plus key, "7/1/2002" will appear. If you press the minus
key, "6/29/2002" will appear. You can press these keys as
many times as you wish to get to the desired date.
Times
Use a space to separate hours and minutes instead of a colon (:) because
it is easier to type. For example, instead of typing "9:30,"
enter "9 30." SuccessWare will fill in the colon for you.
To enter times that are on the hour (like 9:00, 1:00, etc.), just enter
the hour number. For example, instead of typing "9 00," just
type "9" and SuccessWare will automatically format it to "9:00
AM."
For PM times, enter the hour, minute, and a "p". For example,
if you enter "2p," SuccessWare automatically formats the time
as "2:00 PM." There is no need to enter an "a" or
"am" for AM times (although you can) since SuccessWare assumes
AM unless you enter "p" or "pm."
When entering an ending time after a corresponding PM starting time
has been entered, there is no need to enter a "p" for PM since
SuccessWare knows the ending time must occur in the PM if the starting
time is PM.

Business Quick Tip
It
pays to go out of your way to serve clients in ways they don't expect.
Offering refreshments during planning and sales sessions is a touch
of hospitality that elevates your image. Simple gestures, such as
hanging up a client's coat, holding the door for clients, and helping
them to the car with their packages, are expressions of your concern.
In short, good manners are good business. |
